Marie-Soleil Bélanger (violin, voice) and Normand Guilbeault (double bass) share their passion of salt, triggered by a moving visit at the salt ponds in Guérande, on their new album Les salines.

Saxophonist/vocalist Joane Hétu’s latest work — Filature, a “sound theatre” in three acts — will be presented at Usine C (Montréal) on March 16, 17, and 18, 2006. Filature is a musical allegory on the materials weavers use: warp, weft and pattern. {nbio:hetu_jo} unveils creative fabrics of sound and visuals, where music, dance, video art and lighting intertwine.

Filature will be interpreted by the Ensemble SuperMusique (Joane Hétu, musical direction, saxophone alto, vocals; Mélanie Auclair, cello; Guido Del Fabbro, violin, electronics; Jean Derome, saxophones, flutes, vocals; Claire Gignac, saxophones, flutes, vocals; Normand Guilbeault, double bass; Diane Labrosse, digital sampler, vocals; Danielle Palardy Roger, percussions; Pierre Tanguay, percussions, vocals; Némo Venba, trumpet).

“… a convincing statement, and the excellent live capture adds extra ambience to the performance.” (All-Music Guide) With Mingus Erectus, the Normand Guilbeault Ensemble comes back to Charles Mingus repertoire, nine years after the release of Hommage à Mingus (“Tribute to Mingus”).

The Trio Derome Guilbeault Tanguay will present two concerts of exceptionnal jazz in Montréal. The first concert will be held October 13, 2004, at the Cheval blanc and the second concert, October 21, at the Café de la Place des Arts.

Le Band de poètes (“The Poets’ Band”) will record its first album during a series of three shows at Le Va-et-Vient, (Montréal) September 2, 3 and 4. 2004,. The Band features Geneviève Letarte, José Acquelin, D. Kimm, Guy Marchamps, Bernard Falaise and Normand Guilbeault. Four poets and two musicians trades musical and litteral lines in this “deliciously delinquent” show.
