Les contes de l’amère loi in SOCAN — Le Compositeur Canadien

“Review”, SOCAN — Le Compositeur Canadien, January 1, 1988

It’s cold out there on the culting edge, but Joane Hétu, Diane Labrosse and Danielle Roger (with a group of friends, a battery of synthesizers and computers, and a Canada Council grant) seem to be alive and well, even if their album (or maybe because their album) will cause heartburn and confusion among most people who may hear it. Alternately enigmatic, frightening, giddy and hilarious, the music is best described in the sleeve note: “This album was composed with hazards, accidents, imprudence pleasure, conflicts and synchronicities.” No reviewer could improve on that.
