Démantibulé·es brings together four premieres that delve into our experiences during the pandemic. Under the artistic direction of Joane Hétu, these works explore various aspects of this challenging time in our lives, while also highlighting our ability to overcome and reinvent ourselves. Joane Hétu, a consummate master of surprising combinations, aims here to construct a new, unexpected assemblage of timbres, growls, and shouts. To this end, she calls on her vocal group Chorale Joker (here with fewer vocalists than usual) and Ensemble SuperMusique, whose lineup for this project features a quartet of electric and synthesized instruments (synthesizers, oscillators, samplers, prepared percussion) and a wind quintet (flute, clarinet, saxophones, trombone). She also calls upon two experienced composers, Jean Derome and Maxime Corbeil-Perron, to dismantle and reconstruct the scattered fragments of our mental states during the pandemic.
