A repertoire showcasing the quartet’s adroit execution of sharply contrasting moods and dynamics. Strong soloistic flourishes with intricate four-part writing. The title-track by Lussier is a treat—delicate and aggressive by turns. Tops, though, is Freedom Is Your Friends II meditative enough to be called ‘sacred music’.
