Steve Guimond, Hour, January 27, 2011

A mere seven years in the making, welcome to the weird and wild world of Montréal’s “agente provocatrice” Alexis O’Hara as heard on her sophomore record, Ellipsis. O’Hara has always embodied the term “artist,” a true blue multidisciplinarian who’s dabbled in visuals, theatre, film, installations and, of course, music, an avant-garde outlook on popular music played live or processed. She has amassed a local laundry list of extraordinary musicians — Michel F Côté, Bernard Falaise, Radwan Moumneh, Alexandre St-Onge, as well as members of The Luyas and Godspeed. En anglais and in French, she belts out trilogies of experimental glitch torch songs.
