    The French magazine Revue & corrigée (#76, June 2008) has published an impelling article Pourquoi faites-vous des disques? (“Why do you make CDs?”). Jérôme Noetinger, remembering the 1987 Libération special issue asking “Why do you make films?” and the answer by Jean-Luc Godard (“I make movies to avoid the why question”), has decided to ask “the why question” to about 40 artists and producers, amongst whom: Jean-François Denis, Bertrand Denzler, Bernard Fort, Lionel Marchetti, Martin Tétreault, Carole Rieussec, Joëlle Léandre

    Tom Walsh has 2 CD releases on the ombú label coming this summer:

    • Virtual Bone: solos, duos, and trios featuring his trombone-sampler exploring alongside “altists” Jean Derome, John Oswald & Richard Underhill plus Pierre Tanguay’s rhythmic garniture;
    • Tectonic Shift: Tom Walsh’s “Lyric Trio” based in Europe (with drummer Balázs Elemér & bass virtuoso Sandai Mátyás) recorded live at the closing show of the 2006 Budapest Fall Festival. Featuring Richard Underhill.

    Moreover, Tom Walsh is in pre-production of a vocal-based release of his lyric songs featuring prominent vocalists from around the world.

    News from Ganesh Anandan

    After several solo concerts, residencies and collaborations in Italy, Austria, Czech Republic and Germany, percussionist, improviser, instrument builder Ganesh Anandan is back in Montréal until mid-June. He is presently mixing a CD he did in Wuppertal (Germany) with daxophonist Hans Reichel. The CD entitled Self Made focuses on two instruments builders and their respective instrument, namely the Daxophone and Shruti Stick. Afterwards, Ganesh Anandan will return to Prague, his home base in Europe for the summer, with concerts and collaborations in various places.
