New release from Malasartes Musique: the album by Cordâme will be launched at Quai des brumes in Montréal on March 13, 2007! Audio exceprts are already online via the Cordâme disc’s page.

This first album Cordâme proposes musical voyage through the compositions of Jean Félix Mailloux, which muse likes to visit folk music, film music and improvisation. The result in a few words? Great sonic images, lyricism, relentless rhythms and flying atmospheres. The string trio is formed by Marie Neige Lavigne, Julie-Odile Gauthier-Morin, Jean Félix Mailloux and it cooperates with percussionist Pierre Tanguay.

This third recording of the collection qb presents Clemens Merkel, violinist of Bozzini Quartet, in L’hiver monastique — 70 consolations harmoniques pour violon by Montréal composer Michael Oesterle. It is a monologue, an uninterupted line, one long breath, and a unique collaboration between 3 distinct musical individuals: composer, performer, and Tonmeister.

Snipettes! and Morceaux choisis were first released in 1992 as a limited-edition cassette, in a run of 250 numbered copies. This new CD is the result of an ideal collaboration between two record players (an automatic Garrard and a belt-driven Thorens) and presents playing performances of two invisible orchestras, formed by the sounds from Eddie Osborne’s album Baldwin Organ & Bongos and from contemporary music and musique concrète CDs. Snipettes! is a wonderful musical fantasy we rarely get the chance to witness, either on stage or en record.

The last release of Joane Hétu, Nouvelle musique d’hiver, which you may want to listen to while watching a bonfire, is a real audio documentary about winter constructed in four sections: Joyeux temps, Être dans le vent, La marmotte, and Calcium sloche. You will hear the musicians of the Ensemble SuperMusique (Jean Derome, Guillaume Dostaler, Joane Hétu, Diane Labrosse, Pierre Tanguay), Lori Freedman, Martin Tétreault, and Gilles Derome in thrilling improvisations.
