The Guelph Jazz Festival (Ontario) will take place from September 6 to 10, 2006. We will hear pianist Marilyn Lerner on September 6, and Robert Marcel Lepage will present his project Pee Wee et moi on September 7. Famed trumpet player Bill Dixon and double bass master Joëlle Léandre will share the stage on September 8. Alson, Lori Freedman will join the Guelph Youth Jazz Ensemble on September 9.

Antoine Berthiaume will present the latest compositions from his album Ellen’s Bar in various venues across Montréal. {nbio:berthiaume_an} will play with Robbie Kuster and Clinton Ryder at Casa del Popolo on September 6 2006, and at the Quai des Brumes on September 11.

{nbio:berthiaume_an} and {nbio:kuster_ro} will also play alongside Michel Donato at La Mesure du Temps (L’Assomption) on September 15, at La Chasse Galerie (Lavaltrie) on September 16, and at the Upstairs Jazz Bar & Grill on September 24.

Tom Walsh (trombone, sampler) will play live with Matyas Sandai (bass) and Elemer Balazs (drums) on September 17, 2006 at the Budapest Jazz Festival, in Hungary.

Les Escales improbables de Montréal will be held at the King Edward Pier in the Old Port of Montréal on September 2 and 3, 2006. Many activities will be held, such as “musical siestas,” interactive performances, and concerts with guest artists Christian Calon, Philippe Le Goff, Geneviève Letarte, and Michel A Smith, amongst several others.

Maxime de la Rochefoucauld and his Automates Ki are back in Montréal for two concerts at the Red Bird Studios, July 27 and 28, 2006. These two events will also mark the launch of his third CD, Orchestraki.

New York City singer Adrienne Cooper and pianist Marilyn Lerner will present an evening of contemporary Yiddish songs by Frank London, Beyle Schaechter Gottesman, Michael Alpert, and others at the Toronto Music Garden on August 3, 2006. Later on August 30 the duet will take part of the Ashkenaz Festival in Toronto.
