Plaisirs du clavecin was founded in July 2009 by Johanne Couture and Florence Borshy-Desroches. The Plaisirs du clavecin project is the result of several years of research and preparation, and is a unique and innovative artistic endeavour.

As part of its mandate, Plaisirs du clavecin aims to promote access to classical music in two ways: for young audiences (educational concerts and workshops) and for the general public (recitals and talks). The artistic vision of Plaisirs du clavecin is characterised by a profound desire to promote the vast repertoire associated with the harpsichord, solo and chamber music, both old and new, and to make it more accessible through an innovative approach. We believe that “yesterday’s” musical instruments are part of a current musical trend, and that the integration of emerging or traditional artistic elements enables concert music to be updated as a cultural and social phenomenon. This openness to diverse art forms has led us to develop lasting links with many players in the cultural community, including performers, artists, creators, audiences, teachers and students.

Since the organisation was founded, the artistic level and quality of our programming has remained our priority. Plaisirs du clavecin has established important links with various partners in the region, and has thus assumed a leadership role in disseminating early music and making ‘classical’ music accessible to young people. Plaisirs du clavecin has always stood out for the artistic quality and originality of its events. In fact, by integrating artistic and cultural elements into their musical evenings, Plaisirs du clavecin events have become a unique cultural meeting point in the greater Outaouais region.
