Konus Quartett

Renowned for a precise, minimalist sound that transforms places into spaces, Konus Quartett has specialized in contemporary and experimental music for 20 years. Through intensive, visionary collaborations with contemporary composers, the ensemble is committed to commissioning, creating and performing new works. It has worked with Chiyoko Szlavnics, Jürg Frey, Barry Guy, Makiko Nishikaze, Phill Niblock, Urs Peter Schneider, Martin Brandlmayr, Klaus Lang, Tomas Korber and Sam Pluta. In 2021, the Konus Quartet premiered the piece “Continuité, fragilité, résonance” by Jürg Frey, in collaboration with the Quatuor Bozzini.

The quartet’s modular composition lends it surprising agility and original expressive power. The consistent orientation of its programs towards the present makes the ensemble one of the most important voices of contemporary music, well beyond Switzerland and Europe. The ensemble has performed at London’s Cafe OTO, the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival and Canada’s FIMAV (Festival international de musique actuelle de Victoriaville) and has released numerous recordings.
