Born in Lausanne (Switzerland), in 1968, Sylvie Courvoisier began playing the piano at the age of six, introduced to the instrument by her father, an amateur jazz pianist. She studied jazz at the Montreux Conservatory and classical music at the Lausanne Conservatory. She has lived in Brooklyn (USA), since 1998.
