Le fil d’Ariane: Prix Opus 2022-23: Création de l’année

I’m thrilled that you’re listening to this CD by Ensemble SuperMusique (ESM), featuring works premiered at the ESM concert Zigzague & Colore in November 2022. These pieces reflect the musical worlds of three female explorers: Elizabeth Millar, Laura Kavanaugh, and myself. The concert included a variety of graphic scores: a montage of photo-drawings, paintings, video, colours, and instructions for improvisation, guiding the ESM’s excellent musicians into the heart of these territories. I encourage you to read these notes, as they may provide the keys to a better appreciation of each work. Works of new music have such short lifespans — they’re usually played only once in concert (twice if you’re lucky) — so videos and recordings serve to extend their reach and revive them.
