Things hot up a little with Lepage’s film soundtrack CD, or at least its copious sleevenotes lead me to expect a work of devastating brilliance. But its shuffling between rock and classical passages disappoints: the rock is too anodyne (it’s like a Tina Turner backing track); the string passages too slick. These blocks are edited together with a deliberate aural “channel-changing” device that wears thin after the second ti e it’s deployed. Perhaps you had to be there…
