Derome is back with Pierre Tanguay on Réunion. There is no safety net for them, their tonal palette is wide and their sense of adventure welcome. Nailing that on the head is the hot, swinging Better Go on which trombonist Tom Walsh fires the opening salvo before the band rides it out in turns swiping the rhythm metre with abandon, while Tanguay pegs the beat down tight. Their adventurous motifs find humour and good times on the extended odyssey of Blues clair and an apt exuberance on I Want To Be Happy. A lively, entertaining album.
