Getting More Relevant Advice

A few years ago, we pieced together a recommendation system for this website. You know how this works: you visit a disc page, and a small aside gives you a list of “other releases you might like.”

We have reviewed the relevance of its results and proceeded to a radical rewrite of our suggestions sytem based on the principles laid out in Toby Segaran’s book Programming Collective Intelligence (O’Reilly, 2007).

This new system, based as it is on stronger statistical principles, gives noticeably better advice, and we hope that they will boldly guide you to new, uncharted waters!

January 31, 2011: Four DAME Nominees at Opus Prizes

Four DAME albums are nominated for the 2010 Opus Prizes. My 20th Century by Tim Brady is nominated in the “Disc of the Year — Modern and Contemporary Musics” category. The Manivelle by Pierre Labbé is nominated in the “Disc of the Year — Musique actuelle, Electroacoustics” category. Infininiment by the group Klaxon Gueule is nominated in the “Disc of the Year — actuelle and electroacoustic music.” And the Migration by the group Cordâme is nominated in the “Disc of the Year — world music”. The 14th Opus Prize Gala will take place on January 30, 2011 at the Salle Claude-Champagne, Université de Montréal.

May 31 – June 10, 2010: Fanfare Pourpour Launches Danse des breloques

Fanfare Pourpour and DAME warmly invite the public to the release party for Fanfare Pourpour’s 4th album for the imprint Monsieur Fauteux, m’entendez-vous?, the much anticipated Danse des breloques. Arranged by Jean Derome and Némo Venba this CD features no less than a 20-piece orchestra. The launches will take place on Monday May 31, 2010 at Le Lion d’Or in Montréal and on Thursday June 10, 2010 at Le Cercle in Québec.
