Nancy Tobin
Nancy Tobin is a sound artist and designer for theatre productions. In 2004, she was nominated for the Masque de la conception sonore (sound design prize) by the Académie québécoise du théâtre for her work in the production of Le Procès staged by François Girard. Over the past fifteen years, Nancy Tobin has developed an approach using unusual audio speakers to transform the sound qualities of her creations. Her designs for multimedia installations have been presented at the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal and the Montréal International Festival of New Cinema and New Media. In the context of Périphérique, a project under the direction of Nicole Gingras and produced by GIV, she created the website RESTAREA in 2000, which was presented at the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York City and earned her the distinction of “Excellent Artist” during the Art On The Net competition organized by Machita City Museum of Graphic Arts in Tokyo in 2001. Nancy Tobin is currently finishing her work on a series of thematic compositions on CD, centred on memory, play, silence and contemplation. More
