Jennifer Thiessen
Violist Jennifer Thiessen cultivates a particular interest in classical and contemporary chamber music, improvised music and historically inspired performance practice. From 2007 to 2012, she toured extensively with the dance company La La La Human Steps, performing music by Gavin Bryars and David Lang in the productions Amjad and New Work. In 2010, she commissioned and premiered Defòra fai sinhes lo firmament by Isaiah Ceccarelli for viola and voices. Jennifer has worked closely with such composers as Michael Matthews, Alexandra Fol, Brian Harman, Matthew Ricketts and Géraldine Eguiluz. She has performed and recorded with Ensemble Caprice, Ensemble Allogène, Ensemble Appassionata and Les Violons du Roy as well as such symphony orchestras as l’Orchestre symphonique de Trois-Rivières and l’Orchestre des grands ballets canadiens de Montréal. She is featured on Joe Silva’s soundtrack to the film Black Field, has performed with Martha Wainwright and can be heard on recordings by Michel F Côté and Antoine Berthiaume. Originally from Manitoba, she earned a Bachelor of Music from the University of Ottawa and a Master of Music from Université de Montréal. More
