Claude Périard
Claude Périard lives and works in Montréal. Formerly leader of the band Les Sofilanthropes, she continues her career in pop music under the name Claude l’Anthrope. In addition to her practice as a singer-songwriter, she also works in electroacoustic music, sound installation and video art. She holds a bachelor’s degree in digital music from the Université de Montréal. Claude Périard has performed and exhibited her work in several artist-run centers and festivals in Quebec, Canada and abroad, including FIMAV, FIVAC (Cuba), Tentacules (Codes d’accès), Queer City Cinema (Never Apart), Phénomena, Ma Première Place des arts, la Maison de la culture Maisonneuve (Akousma), Pop Montréal, Filles-troniques (Suoni per il popolo), the Centre culturel Georges-Vanier, the Eastern Bloc, on Radio-Canada’s Plus on est de fous plus on lit and at the Rendez-vous Québec Cinéma, as well as being nominated at the Gala de la Musique Indépendante du Québec in 2013. Her albums have been released on the Jeunesse Cosmique, Kohlenstoff Records and Archive Officielle labels. Her music has appeared in two documentary films broadcast on Radio-Canada and internationally. She also does location recording and audio engineering for cinema. A polymorphous creature always hungry for exploration, it is the desire to say that acts as the driving force behind her work, which is political, feminist and philosophical in nature. More
