Mankind
Founded in 2006, Mankind is a duo comprised of performers Alexis O’Hara and D. Kimm. They explore the spaces between sound poetry, noise and ambient music and performed provocation. Their shows are always fresh, rich in improvisation and abetted by the use of props, costumes and video projection. Their most recent show Bad Behaviour / La mauvaise conduite, presented with a spring 2008 European tour, explored — and deplored, notions of feminine etiquette and the norms of polite society. Mankind has been featured in the following festivals: Festival international de musique actuelle de Victoriaville, Edgy Women and Suoni per Il Popolo (both in Montréal), Poesie Berlin Festival (Germany), Donau Festival (Autria), Musique Action et Montevidéo (France), Howl (USA). Their 2009 debut CD Ice Machine is released by Ambiances Magnétiques. More
