Artists La Forêt rouge

Formed in 2002 in Valleyfield (Quebec) by David Dugas Dion (ex-Crabe, David and the Woods, Gens Chrétiens, Leftovers Diable) and Olivier D’Amours (GGRIL, Monocytes), La Forêt rouge in its first stage was a psychedelized avant-rock improvisation duo, soon joined by Christian Saint-Pierre (Totem Tabou, Odd Limbs). Two albums released on Cuchabata Records document this era (La Forêt rouge, 2002) and a failed attempt at putting the project back on track (Session oubliée, 2009).

On April 13, 2014, Dion and D’Amours reunited for a short performance in Montréal. Saint-Pierre was in the audience, and they all heard a solo set by CE François Couture, also on the bill. The four of them entered Dion’s studio that night to record what became Cassette, released in the fall of 2014, the first album by the new and improved La Forêt rouge. Followed the three-part Trilogie du doute (Doubt Trilogy) released on three different labels in 2015. In the meantime, D’Amours bid farewell due to geographic distancing. The band recruited guitarist Guillaume Cloutier (Électrique Junk, Caapi) and carried on, releasing Hygiénique et noble in June 2016.
