Ensemble SuperMusique (ESM)
Ensemble SuperMusique (ESM) features key performer-composers from Montréal’s long-standing and renowned scene of musique actuelle, contemporary music-making that synthesizes composition and improvisation as well as acoustic and electronic instrumentation. Founded in 1998, the ESM is currently directed by Joane Hétu and Danielle Palardy Roger, and comprises varied personnel depending on the project, with each performer drawing on his or her skills and vocabulary as an improvising musician in the execution of the repertoire. The ESM performs works by its members, commissions pieces by a range of contemporary composers, and plays “classics” from the history of graphic and aleatoric composition. In addition to self-presentations in Montréal and on tour, Ensemble SuperMusique has presented its repertoire at major events in Canada. More
