MaryClare Brzytwa is a multi-instrumental composer/performer based out of Oakland, California. Specializing in flute, but also known to play piano, voice, and laptop, her range spreads from contemporary classical/experimental, to jazz, to pop. She has toured extensively in theatres, festivals and rock clubs throughout the US, Europe and Japan as both side-woman and soloist. In 2008 MaryClare moved to Switzerland to collaborate with filmmaker Werner Penzel (step across the border), curating his experimental music project Radio Village Nomade. Most recently, she has been touring Europe on flute and voice for the jazz project of pop producer Mocky (Jamie Lidell, Feist, Peaches). In addition to her own solo recordings, she has also appeared on albums by and collaborated with people such as Lindstrøm, the Boredoms, Kevin Blechdom, Joëlle Léandre, Dominique Leone, William Winant, and Wobbly. MaryClare studied flute and composition with Fred Frith and Robert Dick at Mills College, where she received her BA in 2006.
