Mélanie Auclair

A cellist and singer with an eclectic background, Mélanie Auclair has been working tirelessly for several years now for the sake of music and creative freedom. Even though she is still in her prime, she has been studying the cello for a very long time, starting at age 4. Nowadays, she furthers her studies through meetings. Since coming to Montréal, Mélanie has been multiplying professional opportunities to meet musicians, these meetings shaping her developing career. Just back from an international tour with singer Lhasa de Sela, she has also played on stage with Martin Léon, Michel Rivard, Robert Charlebois, Steve Hill, Freeworm, Haiku and Chloé Ste-Marie. She appears on over 15 albums. She has also contributed music to plays and choreographies, including Five Wolf Deavtov Circus (CIRAM), Les nuits de la pleine lune and 13 Lunes (Danse Cité). She was also part of the SuperOption 2 event (2003), the Codes d’accès evenings (2004) and Joane Hétu’s latest live work Filature, premiered in March 2006. In the spring of 2004, Mélanie joined the Ambiances Magnétiques roster with the release of her debut CD Puce à l’Oreille. One of her pieces was selected for inclusion on Sang 9, a compilation CD introducing young talents from the musique actuelle scene. More
