Artists Thierry Amar
Thierry Amar’s first love is the bass. He took up the electric bass as a teenager and the double bass in his early twenties. An interest in improvised music followed soon after. One of the busiest bassists in Montréal, he is currently a member of a klezmer group (Black Ox Orkestra), two free improv ensembles (Sloth is the Love, Balai Mécanique), and three rock/post-rock bands (Molasses, A Silver Mt Zion, Godspeed You! Black Emperor). He has recorded and played with many other outfits as a guest.
