Trio Derome Guilbeault Tanguay / Jean Derome, Normand Guilbeault, Pierre Tanguay

Trio Derome Guilbeault Tanguay fully share the abundant joy that they take in adding their own spontaneous dimensions to this far-flung repertoire. The WholeNote, Canada

The Trio Derome Guilbeault Tanguay comprises Jean Derome on saxophones and flutes, Normand Guilbeault on double bass, and Pierre Tanguay on drums: Three giants, three stalwarts of the Canadian jazz scene. Artistically, the Trio bursts with life and creativity. What really drives them is the pleasure of playing together, of playing jazz from all eras — from its origins to the avant-garde — with unparalleled commitment, fervor, sincerity, and passion.

Of Trio Derome Guilbeault Tanguay, Jean Derome says: We’ve been playing as a trio for over 20 years, and it’s a passion for jazz that brought us together. As soon as we started, we realized that we were a special group. Is it chemistry, vigor, attentiveness, generosity, engagement, presence, swing, sparkle that makes it so? Jazz today is often boring, but the Trio is not. It’s exciting, captivating! And people sense that something is really happening. It’s not esoteric at all; it’s like a good beer, or a good lay, or when it’s sunny on the fresh snow. Everyone knows it’s good when it’s good.

How lucky we are to be able to create freely and collectively, inspired and supported by the many singular characters who invented jazz, this wonderful music!
