BWV 1032 / BWV 1020 (trois espaces)
Simon Labbé
Last December, as I was walking through the streets of Villeray, thinking about the conception of this work, i stumbled upon a cassette of Bach’s flute sonatas in a book exchange box. This release is composed of three interpretations of the B-side of this tape. It is a series of etudes on the capacity (or inaptitude) of spaces to absorb, to diffuse or to inflect towards other forms this music of high directional tendency: an investigation of the ways music inhabits space and leaves traces. The three different pieces take as a starting point three co-constituent modalities of our relationship to space: the lived, the perceived and the conceived space.
