- Performer(s): Les yeux de la tête
This free-jazz-rock trio (alto / baritone saxophone, electric bass, drums) was formed in 1998 in Caen, Normandy. At the time, their repertoire was a blend of original songs and tortured covers, ranging as far as Stravinsky, Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Astor Piazzola and above all, Frank Zappa. The band has been fascinating rock and jazz audiences alike for over twelve years with their demanding and iconoclastic but always surprising musical universe. Nerf, their new album, is a co-release involving rock label Head Records and jazz label Rude Awakening and will be released in July 2010. This time the music goes deeper into noisy and groovy bass-lines with heavy and epileptic drumming and breathless angry saxophone. You still can hear the influences of the Melvins, the Locust, Jesus Lizard, Fantômas, No Means No, Sabot, Zorn, Zappa, amongst many others.
