Wreck’s Progress: Catalogue (vol 1)
Wreck’s Progress / Yves Charuest, Jean-Claude Patry, Michel Ratté
… a very rich and complex musical world. […] a very rewarding experience. — Vital, Netherlands
Wreck’s Progress (W’sP) is an improvised music ensemble directed by percussionnist/drummer Michel Ratté. Since 1993 W’sP is devoted to the creation of a “new improvised music” born out of a thorough reflection on the meaning of spontaneous composition form. Beyond improvised music as the moment’s poetry and the symbolism of radical freedom, but not forgetting these two poles, here is W’sP’s creativity at its pinnacle. We haven’t heard W’sP on CD since their very beginning when three tracks were released on Michel Ratté’s CD Passages et dérives (1994). Catalogue (vol. 1) fulfills this lack with a series of at least four CDs to be released in the coming years. The tracks have been selected from hours of recordings, accumulated since 1995.
