Ambiances Magnétiques is making many year-end top lists. First, Mike Hansen of WhynotJazz on CKLN picks Prairie orange by Les Poules. François Couture of Délire actuel on CFLX picks Playing Guitar: Symphony #1 by Tim Brady. Mike Chamberlain chose 10 compositions by the Trio Derome Guilbeault Tanguay for his selection in Coda magazine, same as Bart Plantenga for radio Patapoe in Amsterdam. Finally, Montréal’s cultural weekly Ici (Montréal) also picked Playing Guitar: Symphony #1 in addition to Joëlle Léandre and Gianni Lenoci’s Sur une balançoire.

An important event is shaping up in Québec City (Québec)… Machines 13! A unique concert featuring three groups that define improvised new music: Les Poules (Joane Hétu, Diane Labrosse, Danielle Palardy Roger), Klaxon Gueule (Michel F Côté, Bernard Falaise, Alexandre St-Onge) and morceaux_de_machines (Érick d’Orion, A_dontigny). The concert will be held at Méduse’s Studio d’essai Saturday November 20, 2004 at 8pm.

Double Ambiances Magnétiques CD launch Thursday November 21, 2002! First, starting at 9 pm at Montréal’s Espace chorégraphique Jean-Pierre Perrault, guitar player and composer Tim Brady presents his first Ambiances Magnétiques album, the dazing Twenty Quarter Inch Jacks. Then at 9 pm the Casa del Popolo (Montréal) Les Poules (Joane Hétu, Danielle Palardy Roger, Diane Labrosse) launches — more than 15 years after Les contes de l’amère loi! — their new full-lenght, the intriguing Prairie orange. as
